Saying “I Do” in Style

Lovely Fashionistas,

The little white dress is the stuff of fantasy every girl has dreamed of at least once in a while. I’m talking about the perfect wedding dress. A woman’s wedding is one of the most important days of her life and one of the major highlights of this momentous event is the wedding dress. The task of finding the perfect dress can be such a daunting and nerve-wracking task. There are a lot of factors to consider before purchasing one. Here are a couple of tips on how to say yes to the perfect wedding dress and when to know if it is “the one”.

First off, you need to decide right off the bat whether you will wear RTW or choose a designer who will customize your wedding gown according to your liking. These days, wearing something off-the-rack is more practical since you will have the perfect opportunity to shop around and try on lots and lots of wedding gowns. This way, you will get a feel of what you want and what you don’t want and at the same time get a clearer mental picture of what would be the perfect wedding dress for you.

Having made the case for the RTW, the next step would be to determine how much you are willing to pay for the wedding gown. Set a budget in mind, make sure to stick to it, and choose several bridal shops that you think will be within the budget limit. When you enter a bridal shop, indicate right away the budget you have in mind, and don’t even bother trying on the most expensive wedding dress on hand as it will only break your heart if you find out you can’t afford it and will have to part ways with it.

Make sure the dress is a perfect fit. This is a deal breaker. Do not compromise the fit of the gown to save money. You get to wear the dress for most of the day and it will be oh-so-obvious if you are not comfortable with what you’re wearing. Determine your body type. Research on the kind of styles that go along with (and will flatter) your body type.

Lastly, enjoy the experience. At the end of the day, it’s just another dress that you get to wear once in your lifetime (fingers crossed!). Think of it as just another shopping experience. And just like the guy you will end up marrying, you will have to fall in love with that wedding dress the moment you see it.
