From Season to Season – Effortless Style
Scrolling around on the internet searching for images under Nikki Babie, I came across our second website home page 2001.In the past 17 years, we have re-created our sites multiple times. I have lost count.
Our beautiful model – Nellia- is wearing our classic mesh back tank & panel skirt. We started using mesh in 1998 on most our designs. Its sexy, unique, and a tough fabric to destroy. We still mix it with almost everything in the collections today.
FEAR OF FASHION
When the public first experienced mesh, some people loved it but most laughed at it and questioned why would we even think of using something see-through.
At first, I had hurt feelings, but hours after I overcome the resentments and realized that fear of insecurity stops people from trying new things. People are afraid of the new and how others react.
Life is about creating yourself and creating your own style.
Cherish the things about YOU that make YOU different.
Believe in yourself, and try everything you don’t like.
If it feels fabulous .. if the heart skips a beat … if the eyes sparkling, it’s for YOU.
Love Nikki xoxo
Hippie Chic / Boho Chic is a style of fashion I love. It is a style of fashion drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences. You know you are a true Hippie Chic at heart because your best-friend thinks you dress & eat like a “hippie”, your ex boyfriends think every dress you bought “looked like a sack”.
How to know you are Bohemian at heart? You question the conventional, you express yourself openly, live in the now, you love & respect nature.
Bohemians do what they want, live how they feel, love their freedom, creativity and change. And … we live from love.
Whether you’re an up-and-coming artist looking for that much-needed break in the scene or an established artist looking for new material, there comes a time when you face a blank wall or, more likely, a blank computer screen. What do you do if you’re coming up with nothing and you have a looming deadline staring you in the face?
Go off the grid. Of course it’s possible. Shut everything down: your smart phone, iPad, laptop, TV, and radio. Whatever device that links you to the Internet and other means of escapism. Get out of your workstation and spend the afternoon in the park with only a journal and a pen for company. In a world where information can is at our very fingertips, we forget that these things shouldn’t be our lifelines. Drink the silence in and look past the deadlines. Anyway, “going wireless” seems like a breath of fresh air, especially with the kind of news we’ve been having lately.
Look for inspiration elsewhere. If you’re anything like me who does research online but keeps coming up empty-handed, that may be the time to search elsewhere. Explore other forms of the arts. Discover new music and look at inspiring photos. Something is bound to inspire you and spark within you a new idea.
Being a perfectionist will also likely to stifle your output. If you set excessively high expectations of yourself then you are setting yourself up for failure. If you think that what you are coming up with is less-than-perfect, then most likely you will not develop it into fruition. Set reasonable expectations from yourself.
Don’t tie your self-image and self-worth to your creative output. Your value as a human is defined by other things such as how you treat other people, how you treat yourself and your family, by how much love you have for country and for others, and your kindness. It’s not going to be the end of the world if you fail at your creative endeavors Try not to let it affect your self-esteem but rather, use it as an opportunity to get better.
